The Leader’s Job

1. Draw the Circle

• See and share the vision

• Define their specific circle(s) of responsibility

• Communicate clear outcomes and objective

LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE: CLARITY
Continue to clarify what is inside and outside of each person(s) circle

2. Empower People within their Circle

• Provide the resources for each circle

• Provide appropriate freedom and agency for them to take care of their circle

• Regularly encourage them within their circle

LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE: TRUST
Don’t interfere with their circle unless you absolutely necessary

3. Hold People Accountable for their Circle

• Reward innovations, improvements and successes

• Encourage acknowledgement of and learning from mistakes

• Discourage blaming and unacknowledged mistakes

LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE: RESPECT
Providing fair and reasonable feedback to everyone
